Right Excellent Association Meeting

Companions,

It is nearing that time again when it becomes our DUTY and honor to serve the 8th Capitular District. When we were granted the honor of the title of Right Excellent, we accepted this with the assumption that we would now have duties which we would carry till the end. We will be gathering a little earlier this year, than we have in recent years. We have much to do and we must do it as a COLLECTIVE unit. Last year at our annual meeting, only 3 Chapters were represented. We must do better than this, that we get a true representation of the District...the largest district, both in size and number of Chapters.

The annual meeting will be held on October 1st, 2014 at 6:30pm. The location: Greene Masonic Temple on 9 N. Chenango St., as this is the center of the district. This meeting will be held prior to Greene Chapter's scheduled convocation. On the agenda, is the selection of nominees for our District Officers. Additionally, we will be able to discuss any other topics that may be brought before us. My Companions, PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ATTEND. It is our responsibility to lead and it is better to lead from the front than the rear. If you cabletow is not long enough and you are unable to attend, please let me know.

Please let us know, in advance if possible, of any possible candidates or topics you may wish us to consider.

Dear Companion Knight,
Our Preeminent Governor, Rolland A. Miner, has scheduled the next Assembly of the United York Rite College #127 for Wednesday, 27 August 2014 at 7:30 PM in the Lodge Room of the Oneonta Masonic Temple, 322 Main St., Oneonta NY 13820.

LIGHT REFRESHMENTS will be served prior to the Assembly starting at 6:45 and reservations can be made to Fred Hickein by e-mail at: fhickein at stny.rr.com or by phone at 607-432-6596.

The dress for the day should be tux for Officers or dark suit.

Reminder, Payment of YOUR 2014-2015 DUES of $20.00 is now in order. There are a few Companion Knights that have not remitted this year’s dues. If you do not have a dues card thru 31 May 2015 then you are in arrears for your 2014-2015 dues. If you have any questions concerning your dues please contact the Secretary immediately.

Dear Companion Knights,

You are hereby SUMMONED to attend the Annual Assembly of United York Rite College #127 to be held on Saturday, 31 May 2014 at 1:00 PM in the Lodge Room of the Ilion Masonic Temple, 188 Morgan Street, Ilion, NY 13357.

We will open at 1:00 PM followed by a short Business Meeting, including the balloting on several proposals for membership. The nominating committee: Keith F. Folger, Edward S. Newsham, and Fred G. Hickein will give their report. Following their report, the elections will be held and then immediately followed by the installation of the officers for 2014-2015.

Come early (12:00 PM) for lunch and invite your Lady at a nominal cost. Reservations to: Dennis S. Davis (315-245-1699) or deputydad416 at twcny.rr.com on or before May 28th. AMD will be meeting prior to lunch at 10:30 AM.

Immediately following the Assembly a special meeting of the Members of the OPC will be held.

MMRL Tour

The Masonic Medical Research Lab is the Grand Matron's Special Project.

June 5 tour is extended to members and friends of Lodges and OES Chapters.

The bus will leave the Oneonta Bus Line parking lot on Orchard Ave at 8 a.m. and will stop at the Tops Supermarket parking lot in Hartwick Seminary around 8:30.

The tour will take place from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon. We will also take a look at the chapel which I understand has beautiful stained glass windows. From there, we will have lunch at "Chesterfields" nearby.

The cost will be $25. Please send me your reservation at the address below with a check payable to Otsego-Schoharie District OES.

I am also looking for a little financial help from the chapters and lodges.

Otsego 76 Inspection and Zone School of Instruction

Sir Knights,

We will have a Rehearsal for the Inspection on Tuesday, April 29th at 7:15 PM swords and chapeaus.

The Inspection and Zone School of Instruction is Friday, May 2nd. at 7:00 PM. We will have dinner at 5:45PM at Toscana's Restaurant, 64 Main St., Cooperstown. Reservations a must-- make with Alton Dunn, adunn at laurenscs.org or (607) 547-2408. We will also have election of officers and vote on several petitions that night.

District Ceremony of Investiture

To all Masters-Elect and Worshipful Brothers,

You are cordially and fraternally invited to participate in the Otsego-Schoharie Masonic District Ceremony of Investiture to be held at Bump Tavern in the Farmers Museum in Cooperstown, NY at 5 p.m. on May 22nd. As I’m sure you all know, Grand Lodge requires each new incoming Master be invested with the Secrets of the Chair prior to his installation, but recycling Past Masters can and are encouraged to participate as well. All actual Past Masters are requested to attend. This year’s guest speaker is R:.W:. Richard S. Morley, Junior Grand Warden of the Grand Lodge of the State of New York. Because of this we are opening up this years ceremony to the Brothers of the Deleware District as well. Following the ceremony we will retire to Otsego Lodge for an open dinner prepared for us by the ladies of the Eastern Star. Bring your Ladies and guests to this part of the event. On the menu is ham, mixed vegetables, a potato dish, rolls, fruit cup, various non-alcoholic beverages and lemon lust for dessert. Cost for the meal is $15.00. As in the past, they will provide a delightful vegetarian option with advance request. Send me your checks made payable to "The District Association" no later than May 15th so that I can give the ladies a head count. This year we will only be reserving meals for those who have paid in advance because last year many people said they were coming and did not but we still had to pay for the expense of their meals. You can let me know if you will be joining us for dinner or just coming to the Ceremony. Outgoing Masters are requested to accompany the incoming Masters-elect and bring a Bible, Square and Compasses. O-S&D Masonic Charities and the Otsego-Schoharie Master's and Warden's Association

Your presence is requested this Friday, April 11th, for a dual meeting of the O-S&D Masonic Charities and the Otsego-Schoharie Master's and Warden's Association in Schenevus Valley Lodge @ 7pm.

Also, SVL592 is holding a Fish Fry from 4:30-7 pm for $8.

The Charities Corp. meeting is open to all sisters and brothers.

Current Masters and Wardens should stretch their cable tows and attend the M&W Meeting, but it is open to all brothers.
